Now Testing: MSR MicroRocket

Lightweight, compact and fast. I love all these adjectives when talking about backpacking gear. All three can also be applied to MSR’s new MicroRocket canister stove. The MicroRocket stove has a micro weight of 2.6 oz/73 g making it lighter than MSR’s popular Pocket Rocket. The Micro isn’t just lighter though. It features folding pot supports making it compact enough to fit into an MSR Insulated Mug or most other cooking pots. Even though it’s light and small does not mean that the MicroRocket equates to macro cooking time. The MicroRocket has a three-section WindClip burner head with a wind-resistant flame and boils a cup of water in approximately three-and-half minutes.
